ShopPrams & car seatsTravel systems
A travel system is a pram or pushchair sold with a matching infant car seat that clicks onto the frame, so you can move a sleeping baby from car to pram. Bundles often include a carrycot and an ISOFIX base too.
Some bundles include the carrycot, ISOFIX base, rain cover and footmuff; others don’t. Compare the full contents, not just the price.
For walks, newborns should lie flat in a carrycot or a fully flat seat. The car seat is for car journeys.
Check the car seat (and its base, if there is one) fits your car. Most makers publish a vehicle fitting list.
Many prams take car seats from other brands with adapters. A bundle is often cheaper, but you can mix and match.
If you drive, usually yes: you buy the pram and car seat together, they’re made to fit each other, and bundles are often cheaper than buying them separately.
Car seats are designed for car journeys. Most car seat makers advise no more than two hours at a time for young babies, so use a carrycot or lie-flat seat for longer walks and naps.
Shops use the names loosely, but a 3-in-1 usually includes a carrycot, a pushchair seat and a car seat. A 2-in-1 has two of those, often a seat that lies flat plus a car seat.
